A man and his wife were vacationing on the beach. After a storm passed through during the night, the man took an early morning stroll on the beach. He saw that the beach was covered with starfish that had been thrown ashore by the great waves. They lay stranded on the shore. There were thousands of them.
He came up on a young boy who was picking up the starfish, one at a time and throwing them back in the ocean. The man said, “You’ll never be able to get all those starfish back into the water.” The boy said, “That’s true” as he bent over, picked up another starfish and tossed it back into the water. “But it sure made a difference to that one.”
