On Wednesday, December 17, America will celebrate 122 years since the Wright brothers took flight at Kitty Hawk. They broke the bonds of gravity at Kitty Hawk, N.C., sailing into the skies and the history books. After their triumphant flight, they cabled their sister, Catherine, with the good news. Catherine raced to the hometown newspaper office in Dayton, Ohio with the telegram. It read, “Have actually flown 120 feet. Will be home at Christmas.” The editor said, “Isn’t that nice? The boys will be home for Christmas!”
That man missed the point completely. That same scenario is played out every year during the Christmas season. People get caught up in the festivities and miss the truth of Christmas.
