A very serious butterfly collector travelled to Alta, Utah in the 1940’s to enlarge his collection of butterflies and moths.  He was staying with an old friend.  He was super focused on adding some new butterflies to his collection.  One evening at dusk, he returned from his day’s excursion, saying that during a hot pursuit of a rare butterfly near Bear Gulch, he had heard someone groaning down by the stream.  His friend asked, “Did you stop?”  “No, I had to get the butterfly.”  The next day the corpse of an aged prospector was discovered in what has been renamed, Dead Man’s Gulch.
 
While people all around us are dying and going out into eternity, too often we chase butterflies!

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS
If you would like to place an order for a poinsettia in memory or honor of someone, please fill out an envelope at the Welcome Center and turn it in to the Church Office or place it in an offering box by November 30.  Cost is $15 each.  Please pick up your poinsettia in the Front Foyer on December 21.

Oakland Baptist Church is accepting applications for a full-time Receptionist/Administrative Assistant for the Children/Family Minister.  Application and job description is available in the Church Office.
